Will Harvard Business School admissions board change the application essay question this year?
This is the question every applicant, who is considering applying to Harvard Business School for admission to the 2018 class, is asking.
This decision is in the hands of Dee Leopold, managing director of MBA admissions and financial aid at Harvard Business School.
And this isn’t a decision that is taken lightly.
Each year, the admissions committee members get together to discuss how the past year went and one of the items on the agenda is always the essay question.

Here are the types of questions the HBS admissions board will likelyask themselves:
Did we receive the information we were looking to get from applicants or did the question miss the mark?
Was there information that we believe is important that we didn’t get from the essay responses and would a different essay question elicit those answers?
Should we add another question?
What value does an additional essay add? Would it simply add a lot more work on our lean team?
Should we get rid of essays completely and what’s the downside/upside of that decision?
We don’t have a crystal ball to deduce what Harvardadcom will decide regarding the HBS 2015-2016 admissions essay question.
What we do know is that this announcement will be made on May 15th on the HBS director’s blog, The Direct from the Director Blog.

The fact that this past year was the second year that the adcom used this question may suggest that they liked the information they were able to get from the essays and may not make drastic changes this year.
